JOB DESCRIPTIONS

Vehicle Unloaders assist with safely unloading vehicles off of railcars. Job duties include opening up railcar doors, installing bridge plates (to connect the railcars), removing the securements off vehicles, and driving the vehicles off the railcars. Unloaders must be physically able to repeatedly climb ladders 15-20 feet off the ground, squat, bend, lift 50-60 pounds overhead, and work in closed and confined spaces.

 

Vehicle Inspectors assist with inspecting the vehicles while still on rail, documenting any damages found and communicating the damages with the team.  Inspectors will need strong attention to detail, be physically able to climb ladders 15-20 feet off the ground, squat, bend, and work in closed and confined spaces.

 

Shuttle Drivers assist with picking up the brand-new vehicles parked alongside the railcars and driving them to their designated parking spaces, all within the Mira Loma facility. Shuttle Drivers must be able to squat, bend, and walk throughout the shift.

 

Train Conductors direct the movement of railcars within the facility from one track to another, to facilitate the loading/unloading of railcars and the arrival and departure of trains. Prior Train Conductor experience is not necessary; new hires will go through about 2-3 months of intensive training (both in classroom and on-the-field).

 

JOB TYPE FOR ALL POSITIONS

  • Permanent employment for full-time or part-time.
  • Must be open to work weekends, and holidays if scheduled.
  • Must be open to work a flexible schedule (shift start-time and end-time may vary day to day, dependent on work volume for the day).
  • Must be open to work overtime, when needed.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, wind, etc.).

PRE-EMPLOYMENT ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

To be eligible for employment at Inter-Rail Transport the following minimum requirements must be met:

  • At least 18 Years of Age.
  • Pass a Drug Test and a Saliva/Breath Alcohol Test.
  • Pass a Criminal Background Check (for the last 7 years).
  • Provide a Valid Driver’s License and a Social Security card for work authorization.
  • Provide a recent DMV Driver Record (with no more than 3 violations in the past three years, and no DUIs and current probation in the past three years).
